Phil Collins’ Middle School Gig
Taking the stage for the first time in four years, Phil Collins not only made a surprise appearance at a Florida middle school last week but he performed with the student band.
Appearing at the pre-K-12 Miami Country Day School in Miami Shores, Collins told the audience he was a little nervous before singing “In The Air Tonight” and “Land Of Confusion,” according to the Miami Herald.
Turns out the former Genesis frontman/drummer has a connection to the school. Collins’ ex-wife, Orianne Collins Mejjati, lives in the area and told the Herald that Collins’ two sons attend the school and that one of them asked the musician to appear.
The last time Collins performed onstage was in 2010 when he played gigs in New York, Philadelphia and at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival.
