New York Theater Sues Engelbert Humperdinck

An upstate New York theater is suing singer Engelbert Humperdinck for more than $70,000 for his last-minute cancellation of a performance three years ago.

The Daily Gazette of Schenectady reports that Palace Performing Arts Center in Albany filed the lawsuit last week against Arnold George Dorsey, Humperdinck’s legal name.

The venue is suing the British pop singer for funds he never returned after he canceled a show scheduled for June 29, 2011. The lawsuit says his band was already at the theater when Humperdinck canceled the concert.

The lawsuit seeks reimbursement for a $20,000 deposit it provided the 78-year-old performer, plus about $10,000 in advertising, more than $31,000 in sold tickets and attorney fees.
