Drummer Says Midnight Oil Keen To Reform For Tour

The lanky, bald-headed singer, now aged 61, quit the band in 2002 to pursue a career in federal politics. He became a Cabinet minister in the previous Labor Party government before quitting Parliament at elections in September last year.

Midnight Oil was a loud, anti-establishment band that released a series of successful albums during a 26-year career. Its biggest international hit single was “Beds are Burning” from the band’s 1987 album Diesel and Dust.

The band has reformed twice for charity concerts: WaveAid in 2005 and Sound Relief in 2009.
