NFL Draft Seeks Venue

The 2015 NFL draft is searching for a new locale.

Though the event has been at  since 2006, Radio City representatives reportedly told the league the venue won’t be available next April or May.

Other nearby venues such as  or the  could also be out because of potential sports scheduling conflicts, so the league is now considering other cities as well. New York City has hosted the draft since 1965.

In an email to the New York Post, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league has asked officials from NYC, Chicago and Los Angeles to submit information about potential sites for the draft.

Other cities have also expressed interest. “We will review and then ask for additional information if necessary to be submitted by the end of June,” McCarthy said. “League staff will visit cities under consideration for site visits and informational meetings.”

Factors the league is considering in its decision include the availability of a venue to hold the draft April 22-25 or April 29-May 2, the number of fans that could attend, the ability to host a festival for fans in an adjacent space, and hotel space, the Post reported.
