Aska Arrested Again
Aska, half of Chage and Aska, one of Japan’s biggest pop groups, was re-arrested June 17 by Tokyo Metropolitan Police on drug charges.
The 56-year-old singer-songwriter was first arrested May 17 with a female companion in the latter’s apartment for possessing “stimulant drugs,” which usually refers to methamphetamine.
Later, during a search of Aska’s apartment, police also found MDMA.
At first, Aska, whose real name is Shigeaki Miyazaki, denied the charges but has since admitted starting using drugs three years ago.
He also told police he bought drugs from a member of an organized crime syndicate.
