Gentles and C3 Management President Matt Shay will be based in New York effective July 1, and the office will serve as HQ for Cult Records, an indie founded and run by The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas.

The roster includes Cerebral Ballzy, Hammond Jr., and others.

“Having run an independent, boutique management company for well over a decade, I and recently begun exploring different options for Wiz Kid in terms of partnerships with larger companies,” Gentles said, “the goal being to offer my artists more resources and infrastructure in a time where provide such services inhouse is almost mandatory.”

There’s some history there: Gentles has known C3 founding partner Charles Attal since 2001, when he booked The Strokes into Stubbs’ BBQ in the early days, and Shay signed Hammond to his Black Seal Records imprint at RCA.

“When they came to me with the idea of doing a partnership to get in on the ground floor of C3 Management’s expansion into New York City, it was an easy decision.”

C3 Management’s new office will be at 263 Bowery, New York, NY, 10002.
