More than 50 were treated at the scene while 36 were transported to hospitals in what was termed a “mass casualty event” at TD Garden, according to the Boston Globe.

“The violation was numerous intoxicated underrage patrons observed inside the premise requiring medical treatment and transport to hospital,” Patricia Malone, Boston’s director of consumer affairs and licensing, told the paper.

She said her division will have a hearing to review procedures in place for the event. “We take this incident very seriously and our thoughts are with the affected guests and their families,” TD Garden spokeswoman Tricia McCorkle said in a statement quoted by the Globe.

She said the arena had “implemented increased precautions such as restricted alcohol sales, additional security and provided two cooling off areas for guests.”

Fortunately, none of those treated or hospitalized died as a result of their conditions.

Witnesses reported that 80-degree temperatures, ingestion of various substances including alcohol, and a general state of excitement by concertgoers contributed to the numbers treated.
