The lawsuit was filed July 2 by musicians Marcus Gray and Chike Ojukwo of St. Louis; Lecrae Moore of Atlanta, and Emanuel Lambert of Aldan, Penn. Gray goes by the stage name Flame.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Capitol Records, rapper Juicy J, producers Dr. Luke and Cirkut, and songwriters Max Martin and Sarah Theresa Hudson are also named in the lawsuit.
It alleges that Perry’s 2013 hit was based on the gospel song “Joyful Noise,” which was nominated for a Dove Award.
