Mastodon Making Moves This Fall

Prepare your ears because Mastodon is coming to town. After playing “Louder Than Life” in Louisville, Ky., in early October, the guys will continue to make noise in the U.S. as they stay on the road through November.

The heavy metal band’s latest album is dominating the rock charts as well as occupying the sixth spot on the overall Nielsen SoundScan chart.

Marking Mastodon’s sixth studio album, Once More ‘Round The Sun was released in June via Reprise Records. The LP was recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz, whose resume includes his work with Rush, Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains and Deftones.

Not only are fans snatching up copies of the album, but the critics are digging it too. Spin says, “Album after album, Mastodon set the pace for modern heavy metal. Their brand of aggression is brainy, technically dazzling and slightly hallucinogenic – metal for people who don’t usually listen to metal. At the same time, the band is balls-out creative.”

Rolling Stone declares, “The mercurial metal heads have improved on the lean hard-rock pummel of 2011’s The Hunter with lattices if ornate riffs and primal vocals…the band sounds best when taking risks.”
