The Town Talk reports that Rapides Parish and the city of Alexandria haven’t agreed on plans for the parking lot.
The city and parish together own nearly 17 acres around the Coliseum and related buildings. Most of it’s a parking lot.
To get building permits, Alliance Design Group must show its design has enough parking spaces for the number of planned seats. That requires clear ownership of the parking area or an agreement to use it.
Though it’s been used for parking for years, no one can find an official agreement for that use.
The city and parish have had sometimes contentious discussions about the Coliseum in recent years.
