Hellion Takes On Karma

It’s been said that good things come to those who wait, and come October Hellion fans will have the chance to get their hands on the band’s first new album in more than a decade. October is also when you’ll find the female-fronted metal act on the road.

Another saying you might of heard before – Karma’s A Bitch – happens to be the name of the band’s new LP, which is due out Oct. 7 in the U.S. and Oct. 8 in Europe.

Along with vocalist and founding member Ann Boleyn, the current lineup features drummer Simon Wright (formerly of AC/DC, Dio and UFO), keyboardist Scott Warren (formerly of Dio and Heaven & Hell), bassist Bjorn Englen (formerly with Yngwie Malmsteen) and up-and-coming guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle.

Boleyn and Wright produced Karma’s A Bitch, with help from Ken Scott, one of the five principal engineers for The Beatles. Scott produced David Bowie’s Hunky Dory and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars, as well as engineering iconic albums such as George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass and Elton John’s Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Man.

“Working with Bowie or working with Ann of Hellion, you’ve got sheer talent,” Scott said.

Commenting on Hellion’s roster, he added, “Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it’s new musicians. The one constant thing about Hellion is Ann, and her incredible voice.”
