Rodrigo y Gabriela Announces October Plans

No doubt about it, guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela is alive and kicking – and ready for more gigs. The act has more dates to do in support of its first collection of new tunes in five years, 9 Dead Alive.

The LP was released in April and marks the act’s highest charting release to date. The Mexican guitarists, known for their speedy picking skills, recorded 9 Dead Alive at their Pacific Coast hideaway in Ixtapa, Mexico.

A tweet from the duo describing the album says, “Each track is a personal celebration of individuals who have passed on, but through their deeds and words still resonate in the 21st century.” As you might have guessed, 9 Dead Alive includes nine songs. Honorees include Viktor Frankl, Harriet Tubman and Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Check out Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero performing “Torito” on PBS’ “Live From The Artist Den.” The tune is dedicated to animals and nature.
