Lost Nights With Minus The Bear

Minus The Bear is spending some quality time with fans this fall in support of its upcoming LP. Instead of playing 1,000+ capacity venues that it routinely sells out, the act is visiting smaller clubs such as Washington, D.C.’s Rock and Roll Hotel and Slim’s in San Francisco.

Minus The Bear is also celebrating the 10th anniversary re-release of the fan favorite EP, They Make Beer Commericals Like This.

The journey launches with an especially intimate evening at the 150-capacity Club Café in Pittsburgh.

The indie rock band’s new album, Lost Loves, is due out Oct. 7 via Dangerbird Records. The LP is made up of tunes written during the past seven years in the process of working on 2007’s Planet of Ice, 2010’s Omni and 2012’s Infinity Overhead.

“Inevitably some of your favorite songs are going to be cut in the necessity of creating the right sequence for that particular time,” says bassist Cory Murchy. “Regardless of the reason they weren’t included, it wasn’t for lack of love and appreciation of the songs themselves.”

He adds, “Perhaps it’s because they didn’t make the past albums that they fit together so seamlessly.”

After choosing the tracks for Lost Loves, the band completed select songs with additional recording and vocals.

“As a whole, this collection of songs offers as strong a package as any other album we’ve put together,” Muchy says.
