X Japan Reveals MSG Onsale

It’s not often that a band announces one date then waits three months before revealing ticketing information.  But then, X Japan isn’t your everyday rock act.

Not every band can claim it has sold more than 30 million albums and singles.  What’s more, X has toured 16 countries and has sold out the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome 18 times.  Notoriously humongous in their home country, X Japan sees one more conquest on the horizon – the U.S.

But it’s not like the band has never played the states.  X Japan did a short run through North America in 2010 that included a stop at in Chicago.

And now the band is eyeing a one-nighter at New York’s Madison Square Garden Oct. 11.  Back in April, X Japan’s Yoshiki announced the gig during the San Francisco stop of his “Classical World Tour.”  At that time X Japan representatives were saying ticketing information for the MSG show would be announced “soon.”

Well, better later than sooner.  Three months after that San Francisco evening we have an onsale for the Comic Con-sponsored MSG concert – Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. EDT.

You read that sponsorship mention correctly.  New York Comic Con is sponsoring X Japan’s Big Apple moment and the band will appear at the gathering of sci-fi and fantasy fans.  Plus, Yoshiki will be on a panel along with Marvel Comics’ Stan Lee to discuss their collaborations, such as the comic based on Yoshiki called “Blood Red Dragon.”
