Tomorrowland Continues To Boom

Tomorrowland, the Belgian dance festival that was last year acquired by Robert Sillerman’s SFX, celebrated its 10th anniversary by selling out in less than an hour.

That’s considerably longer than the eight or nine minutes it took to sell 360,000 tickets in 2013, but this time Tomorrowland stretched over two weekends and traveling fans may have had difficulties attending both.

However, Lufthansa, Thai Airways and Air Canada were among the carriers to sell all the seats on more than 150 flights into Brussels.

Last year, Tomorrowland’s organisers were claiming the festival annually adds euro 70 million ($94 million) to the Belgian economy, most of it spent on transportation and hotels.

During Tomorrowland, which is in Boom in northern Belgium, it’s not easy to find a vacant hotel room in Brussels, Antwerp, or Mechelen.

The acts playing the extended Tomorrowland July 18-20 and 25-27 included Armin van BuurenCarl CoxEric PrydzJohn DigweedPaul Oakenfold, and Roger Sanchez.
