Sean Murphy, 18, pleaded not guilty in Attleboro District Court to rape, claiming his encounter with a 17-year-old girl on the lawn was consensual, according to the local Sun Chronicle.

Both Murphy and the alleged victim had been drinking the night of the concert, police told the paper.

An off-duty officer said she saw a crowd and heard a comment about a couple having sex on the lawn before she decided to investigate.

Several onlookers reportedly recorded or took photos of the event, which police are reviewing for the investigation.

The incident was stopped after a woman asked the girl if the sex was consensual, the girl replied it wasn’t, and the suspect was pulled off her, police said. Murphy’s bail was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.
