Cassidy Turns Up At Racetrack Instead Of Court

Seventies heartthrob David Cassidy apparently was at Saratoga Race Course as his lawyer was preparing to accept a plea deal on the singer’s behalf in an upstate New York courtroom.

Cassidy was charged last summer with driving while intoxicated in the town of Schodack, near Albany. Because Cassidy lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, prosecutors agreed to let his lawyer enter a guilty plea rather than make him appear in court Wednesday.

But officials learned via a tweet by the New York Racing Association that Cassidy was at the racetrack in Saratoga, 40 miles north of Schodack.

A prosecutor told The Daily Gazette of Schenectady that officials were “confused” and “disturbed” to learn Cassidy was nearby when his lawyer said Cassidy would be unable to appear in court.
