Blue Balls Rolls On
Although it fell victim to the days of rain that seem to roll of Lake Lucerne like a thick mist, Blue Balls Festival chief Urs Leierer is happy the weather didn’t harm attendance.

Attracting 100,000 visitors to the lakeside festival in north-central Switzerland and selling 86 percent of the tickets for the festival’s main auditoria in the KKL, the city of Lucerne’s Convention Centre, was more than enough to see the event in the black. 100,000 is a healthy average for Leierer, who last year said “the weather was good and I didn’t lose money.” That was after doing 72 percent business.
The acts doing most to keep Blue Balls on the right of the numbers July 18-26 included James Blunt, Passenger, Ed Sheeran, Joss Stone, Rita Ora, and Caro Emerald.
