Hydro The Flower Of Scotland

At a time when sports fans are flocking to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games and Scotland’s selling itself as a tourist attraction, Visit Scotland – the country’s main tourist body – has awarded the recently opened SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow five-star status.

The Hydro’s playing a key role as one of the main venues for the Games, hosting the artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, as well as netball and boxing finals.

The five-star grading under Visit Scotland’s world-leading Quality Assurance Scheme means the Scottish Exhibiton and Conference Centre and the SSE Hydro have officially been graded as “outstanding” after being graded on everything from décor and cleanliness to the attitude of their staff.

“We are delighted that The SSE Hydro has been recognised with a five star award and this is further testament to our ability to deliver world class events,” said SSE director of live entertainment John Langford.
