September Evenings With Tweedy

Last week Wilco announced two gigs, saying there wouldn’t be a “proper” tour this year but that more news was coming shortly “including info on a handful of other shows.” Now we’ve got details about the other shows, which feature Jeff Tweedy and his 18-year-old son Spencer – aka Tweedy.

The Tweedy excursion launches Sept. 19 in Athens, Ga., just a few days before the father/son duo release their debut album. Sukierae is due out Sept. 23 on dBpm Records. You can preorder the LP now and receive eight tracks before the release date.

Here’s the plan for the tour:

Sept. 19 – Athens, Ga., Georgia Theatre       
Sept. 20 – Bristol, Tenn., Downtown Bristol (Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion)   
Sept. 21 – Philadelphia, Pa., Merriam Theater           
Sept. 23 – Brooklyn, N.Y., BAM Howard Gilman Opera House     
Sept. 24 – Ithaca, N.Y., State Theatre          
Sept. 26 – Boston, Mass., Berklee Performance Center
Sept. 27 – Northampton, Mass., Calvin Theater
Sept. 28 – Portland, Maine, State Theatre    
Sept. 29 – Burlington, Vt., Flynn Center For The Performing Arts

Earlier that month you can catch Wilco in Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 3 and Akron, Ohio, Sept. 4, ahead of the band’s appearance at in Arrington, Va., Sept. 6-7. Tickets are available now.

A presale for the Tweedy dates begins Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. ET.
