Garth Brooks Expands Atlanta Plans

Along with the initial Atlanta gig at Philips Arena Sept. 19, Brooks has lined up another night at the venue Sept. 20. Plus, you have two Sept. 19 shows to choose from – 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets for all three concerts are on sale now.

But fans got a little too excited and apparently overwhelmed Ticketmaster.com. Athens Banner-Herald reports that ticket sales were temporarily suspended earlier today because of “system overloads” on the site.

The paper points to an interview Brooks did with Atlanta’s Kicks 101.5 FM about the delays some fans experienced when trying to buy tickets.

“What I want to say to you is we’re going to do it right next time and I don’t know why it’s taking so long for anything to happen,” Brooks said.  

He added, “Ticketmaster will figure this out and tell me. Tell [the fans] for me that I love them to pieces. … I don’t feel like we were prepared.”

Although Brooks told the local radio station that some fans couldn’t buy tickets two hours after this morning’s onsale, as of the time of this post tickets were available for all three shows.

So far, Brooks’ post-retirement comeback world tour officially features two cities and a total of 13 gigs. The journey, which features Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, kicks off at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., located 19 miles outside of Chicago. Windy City residency shows are scheduled Sept. 4-6 and Sept. 11-14, with two shows per night Sept. 6, 12 and 13.

Tickets for Atlanta are priced at $56.94 plus $4.56 in taxes, a $4.00 facility fee and a $6.00 service charge for a total of $71.50. This is just slighter higher than Rosemont’s $65.50 total ticket price.
