Celine Dion Cancels All Performances
It probably comes as no surprise to fans that Dion is putting her career in a temporary holding pattern. Doctors operated on her husband and manager René Angélil in December to remove a cancerous tumor. Plus, an illness causing an inflammation of Dion’s throat muscles has kept her from performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas since her July 29 show. Add to that the managing of a career while raising three small children and it would appear that something had to give.
That something was Dion’s performance schedule. Canceling every show through March 22, today’s announcement says Dion has postponed “all of her business activities indefinitely.”
“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children,” Dion said in a statement. “I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support. I also appreciate the understanding of my long-term partners AEG and Caesars Entertainment during this difficult time.”
In addition to canceling her Las Vegas dates, Dion has nixed her tour of Asia that was to take place in autumn.
