A Few More Nights With Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks hasn’t even taken the stage yet for his comeback world tour but it already appears to be a crazy success. Thanks to two more Atlanta gigs added over the weekend, he’s broken one of Elvis’ concert records as well as one of his own personal benchmark for tickets sold.

After tickets went on sale Saturday morning for two previously announced shows at Atlanta’s Philips Arena, the news broke that Brooks will be sticking around the capital of Georgia for a few more days.

The latest concerts added to his itinerary are Sept. 26 and Sept. 27. Both shows are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. This brings the grand total of Atlanta performances to lucky number seven. The other gigs are scheduled Sept. 19 at 6:30 and 10:30 p.m., Sept. 20 at 6:30 and 10:30 p.m., and Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now. As of the time of this post, tickets were still available for Sept. 20 at 10:30 p.m. and the Sept. 21-27 gigs. According to Brooks’ website, tickets for the rest of the dates had been snatched up.

With more tickets still left to sell, Brooks has beaten his personal record for tickets sold in Atlanta. His previous record was 81,902 paid tickets for his residency at the Omni, March 13-17, 1996.

And he’s now become the only act to ever sell seven consecutive shows at Philips Arena. Elvis’ record was four gigs.

As for Brooks’ 10-gig Chicago-area residency at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., as of the time of this post tickets are still available for Sept. 6 at 10:30 p.m., Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 12 at 10:30 p.m., Sept. 13 at 10:30 p.m. and Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The superstar has also broken his personal Chicago-area ticket record, which was 141,717 paid tickets for his Oct. 21-26 and Dec. 18-19, 1997 gigs.

The upcoming tour features his wife, Trisha Yearwood.
