Local media report that 35-year-old Craig Lawson of Ontario, Canada, was sentenced Monday to a year in Genesee County Jail.
Lawson pleaded guilty in June to assault for punching Jason McNeil of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in the face after a concert in July 2013 at Darien Lake Theme Park.
Lawson admitted he punched McNeil after he mistook him for another man who groped his wife during the concert.
McNeil, a native of nearby Alden, suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for a time. Prosecutors say he requires constant supervision.
Kid Rock donated $5,000 to defray McNeil’s medical bills.
