Brian Wilson Surfs Into California

Quintessential California boy Brian Wilson has lined up a few dates here and there in the Golden State during the next few months. The legendary singer/songwriter/producer is bringing along his buddy Al Jardine.

The guys will be sure to perform some of the classic Beach Boys hits fans know and love. Plus, Wilson just might play selections from his upcoming solo album. He’s been busy putting the finishing touches on the LP, which includes guest singers Kacey Musgraves, Lana Del Rey and Zooey Deschanel.

A few decades of the musician’s life will be up on the big screen next month when “Love and Mercy” debuts at the Toronto International Film Festival. Special presentations of the film are scheduled Sept. 7-8 and 11 at the Elgin/Winter Garden Theatres.

The festival’s website describes the film as “an intimate rendering of Wilson’s mercurial genius, illustrating both his musical mastery and the psychological pain it disguised.” Paul Dano portrays a younger version of Wilson during his rise to stardom with the Beach Boys in the ‘60s. John Cusack takes over as the film examines his solo resurgence in the ‘80s.

Here’s Wilson’s California itinerary:

Aug. 30 – Indio, Calif., Fantasy Springs Resort Casino & Special Events Ctr.
Sept. 27 – Paso Robles, Calif., Vina Robles Amphitheatre
Oct. 9 – Modesto, Calif., Mary Stuart Rogers Theatre
Oct. 11 – Long Beach, Calif., Carpenter Performing Arts Center

Tickets for the Paso Robles show, which marks the final evening event of “Sunset SAVOR the Central Coast,” go on sale to the public Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. PDT. The rest of the dates are on sale now.
