More Aussie Acts Eyeing NA

After a headline North American run earlier this year, electronic musician Chet Faker announced a return, doing 18 stops Aug. 23 to Oct. 18.

The shows include a headliner at New York’s Webster Hall and slots at Los Angeles’ FYF Fest and Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival. In Australia, his debut album Built On Glass went gold after topping the official ARIA charts this year. An Australian tour was a total sellout, including four dates at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre and three at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre.

Ahead of his U.S. debut at CMJ, Sydney’s Spookyland signed with U.S, label Canvasback to release its Rock and Roll Weakling EP.

In the home market, it does an East Coast run in September following national and college radio airplay for the EP.

Brisbane’s Violent Soho, which earlier signed with SideOneDummy for U.S. distribution, landed a Canadian deal with Dine Alone Records. Dine Alone has fellow Aussies DZ DeathraysGlass Towers and The Jezabels on its books.

Sept. 26 marks the Canadian release of their Hungry Ghost album, which spent a year on the Australian charts.
