Along Comes Pete Molinari

Your chance to experience Pete Molinari live on stage on this side of the ocean comes up next month when the British singer/songwriter embarks on his first U.S. tour, beginning at Jack White’s Third Man Store in Nashville.

An artist on the rise, Molinari’s previous effort, A Train Bound For Glory, resulted in a Mojo Awards nomination for best newcomer and an appearance on BBC’s “Later With Jools Holland.”  Last year he appeared at the in London where he performed with festival curator Yoko Ono.

Although his influences range from jazz great Billie Holiday to Beat poet/novelist Jack Kerouac to John Coltrane to Leadbelly, the spark that led Molinari to create Theosophy isn’t something you usually run across while exploring new music.  For his latest album, Molinari is citing The Theosophy Society, an organization founded in New York in 1875 to “promote an understanding of the Esoteric Teachings” including science, mysticism, religion and the arts.

In addition to Third Man, Molinari’s first-ever tour of America will also play the British Underground Bootleg BBQ at Nashville’s Groove Records and will perform live on Seattle’s KEXP, KINK in Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles’ KXLU.
