Alt-J, 1975 Back Downunder

Regular visitor Alt-J headlines at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre (Oct. 6) and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre (Oct. 7) for Frontier Touring.

After playing Splendour in the Grass and four sold-out club dates in July, The 1975 returns for three dates Jan. 15-18 through Secret Sounds.

Metal band Sleep arrives Dec. 6-13 for Life Is Noise, doing five clubs and the Meredith Music Festival.

French future house proponent and producer Tchami makes his debut visit through Future Music Group, headlining six clubs Sept. 12-20.

To set up the release of its 36-minute self-titled debut album through Polydor, Toronto’s July Talk follows up two showcases at Brisbane’s BigSound conference Sept. 10 with two Melbourne dates Sept. 12-13.

After visiting earlier this year, Jimmy Eat World extends its 10th anniversary tour behind to Australia and New Zealand. Frontier Touring has the band in Auckland Nov. 8, then in Australia for six theatres Nov. 11-22. Melbourne bands The Sinking Teeth and My Echo open.

Niche has singer-songwriter Rodriguez for six stops Oct. 19 to Nov. 7.

Metropolis Touring and Tombowler present An Evening With Dream Theater for shows in Melbourne (The Palais, Oct. 29) and Sydney (The Big Top, Oct. 30), The prog-metal act last toured here in 2009.

Already announced for the Meredith Music Festival, Cloud Nothings do three sideshows for Penny Drop and Laneway Presents (Dec. 10-14).

Handsome Tours has The Lemonheads at three clubs before Meredith (Dec. 9-12) and Phosphorescent at two clubs (Dec. 12-14).

Another Meredith act, Ty Segall, undertakes his biggest Australian tour to date, through Penny Drop, with five headliners Dec. 11-20.

After their set at New Zealand’s Raggamuffin festival, rising reggae/raga act Chronixx and The Zincfence Redemption cross over to Australia for club shows in Melbourne Dec. 11 and Sydney Dec. 12.
