CA Quake Rocks Venues
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake that rocked Napa, Calif., Aug. 24 sent as many as 172 people to the hospital and damaged famed wineries and historic buildings including the Uptown Theatre .
The venue reportedly sustained damage to its stucco and marquee outside, and the Napa Valley Register noted part of the ceiling by the stage fell down.
The former movie palace has been open as a venue since 2011 after undergoing years of restorations tha, where Michael Dorf’s City Winery hosts shows, sustained no damage, but canceled that evening’s performance.
Dorf’s restaurant didn’t fare as well, suffering more than $10,000 in losses in its wine cellar, plus a leak that poured inches of water across the restaurant floor.
