Sound Man ID’d In Murder-Suicide
Rancho Nicasio is owned by music veteran Bob Brown, who managed Huey Lewis & The News and Pablo Cruise before deciding to purchase the historic roadhouse in 1999.
Rodden and Andreas Kreiden were found shot to death in the back yards of neighboring houses in Strawberry, Calif. Kreiden was found with a rifle by his side at the home of his parents. The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide by the Marin County Sheriff.
“He’s been my right arm for 16 years,” Brown told the Marin Independent Journal. “He mixed the sound, he did the lights. He loved music so much I think he would have done this job for free.
“Every musician who came here loved this guy. They couldn’t wait to see Ted. It’s family out here. Everybody who works here is part of our family,” Brown said.
Detectives were investigating the shooting of Rodden when they discovered the body of Kreiden in the yard behind his parents’ house next door in the Mill Valley town.
Kreiden is from Calistoga, Calif., and investigators told the Independent Journal they had no information about the relationship, if any, between the two men.
“I’m unaware of any ongoing dispute between them,” Lt. Doug Pittman told the paper. “We’re trying to figure out what we have here.” It appeared Kreiden was visiting or otherwise staying at the home of his parents, who were out of town when the shooting occurred.
