SeatGeek Raises Millions

Ticket search engine SeatGeek has raised $35 million in a series B funding round led by Accel Partners that counted Nas and NFL quarterback siblings Peyton and Eli Manning among its investors.

The financing will be used to help SeatGeek add new members to its team, expand product offerings and “get more aggressive in marketing,” specifically on mobile platforms, the company announced.

One new member of the team will include Accel Partner John Locke, who joins the SeatGeek board alongside company founders Jack Groetzinger and Russ D’Souza and Founder Collective’s David Frankel.

Groetzinger explained the company wasn’t looking to raise funds, “but when we met John and Accel, we knew it was a great fit. John completely gets what we’re trying to build and sees the future of entertainment the same way we do.”

SeatGeek, which features interactive stadium maps and forecasting technology to alert fans of the ideal time to purchase tickets from secondary sellers, expects to drive more than $160 million in ticket sales in 2014, the company said.
