Guitarist Aces Reunite For Australian Run

Three acclaimed jazz and classical guitarists reunite for a second Australian run, their first since 2005.

Washington-born Ralph Towner, Austria’s Wolfgang Muthspiel and Kazakhstan-born Australian Slava Grigoryan tour behind new album Travel Guide on Europe’s ECM label.

The shows take in seven theatres, galleries and community centres Oct. 24 to Nov. 2.

KillRockStar BigDog Entertainment brings Danish dance-pop band Aqua on a Greatest Hits visit two years after a sold-out 11-date tour. The latest visit takes in five theatres Oct. 31 to Nov. 5.

Jamaica’s The Skatalites expand their 50th anniversary celebrations with three New Zealand shows (Dec. 5-7) and seven Australian theatre and festival dates Dec. 10-19 through Metropolis Touring and Tombowler.

New Orleans’ Tuba Skinny returns for its fourth visit behind two albums, the new Owl Call Blues and Pyramid Stuff, which was recorded in Tasmania on ther band’s last visit. Top Shelf has them at 12 dates Oct. 2-19 including appearances at the Caloundra Music and Melbourne festivals.

Novel introduces Venezuelan duo Fur Coat, with their first visit taking in three clubs Oct. 3¬-5.

With Philadelphia’s The War On Drugs selling out the first three nights of a December visit, Handsome Tours added extra shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

Citing “a personal family emergency,” NYC-based Ingrid Michaelson postponed her four-city September visit to March 11 to 14.
