Summer Blockbusters A Dud
Hollywood’s summer movie season limped to the finish line with just two bonafide hits, “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” and box office receipts expected to be down about 15 percent from last year’s tally.

Even once Labor Day weekend numbers are added, the total will make it Hollywood’s worst summer in at least seven years. But critics say the falloff isn’t because of the economy – it’s because the movies just weren’t all that.
And it seems the whole town is waiting for J.J. Abrams’ resurrection of a certain George Lucas franchise with “Star Wars: Episode VII” – which doesn’t open until 2015.
