T.J. Martell Foundation Beefs Up ‘Family Day’ Lineup
Planned for Sept. 28 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, the 15th annual Family Day features Pitbull, who will perform as well as receive the TJ Martell Foundation’s Family Day Artist Achievement Award. Also appearing will be iTunes chart topper Timeflies. Hilary Duff will host the festivities.
Family Day helps fight the good fight by raising money and awareness for cancer and AIDS research, including a special grant for ovarian cancer research that was added this year. One of the Martell Foundation’s most successful events, Family Day has raised more than $5 million for research at top hospitals in the country.
Of course, there is a guest of honor. RCA Records president/COO Tom Corson will be the man of the hour.
“I am truly honored by this great recognition from the T.J. Martell Foundation. I have always supported their cutting-edge research programs at the Martell-funded hospitals and I hope to help make this 15th anniversary event a huge success.”
Getting back to those additions. Bleachers is Jack Antonoff’s (Steel Train, fun.) latest band. The group released its debut album, Strange Desire, on RCA in July.
“I’m honored to be performing at Family Day this year honoring Tom Corson,” Antonoff said. “Tom, along with my entire RCA Records Family, has been incredibly supportive of me and of Bleachers and I am thrilled to be able to be there to support him and such a good cause.”
Us The Duo are Michael and Carissa Alvarado. The husband-and-wife team’s second album, No Matter Where You Are, surged up to No. 9 on the iTunes pop chart since it was re-released on Republic Records. Their single, “No Matter Where You Are,” will be featured in the animated film, “The Book Of Life.” Along with appearing on Family Day, Us The Duo are on Oprah Winfrey’s
One of the top-ten finalists on the second season of “The X Factor,” Bea Miller, rounds out the additions. Miller released her debut EP, Young Blood, on Hollywood Records earlier this year.
Tickets are still available but you better hurry because last year’s Family Day was a sold out affair. Artist meet-and-greet packages are also available. Check out TJMartell.org for more information.
