U2’s ‘Songs Of Innocence’ Free On iTunes

Apple’s big dog-and-pony show may have been the big tech news today but word that U2 is giving away its new album, Songs Of Innocence, on iTunes makes this a perfect day for music fans.

The 11-track long player released on Interscope won’t arrive in stores until Oct. 13 but iTunes has the freebie for you today.

In fact, you may already have the new LP and not even know it.  Apple says you’ll find Songs Of Innocence “under the artist or album tab” on your iOS device or in your iTunes music library.  Actually, you’ll probably see it as an iCloud download that’s yours for the taking.

We’ve seen mixed results here at the Pollstar.com compound. True to Apple’s word, the album automatically appeared in one person’s library.  However, the iTunes application running on the computer sitting next to it had not received any new U2.  That is, until we looked in the “Recently Added” playlist and saw the tracks listed as iCloud downloads.
