Shanghai Symphony In House
The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, which is Asia’s oldest, launched its 135th season in grand style in early September with its first concert in its very own symphony hall.

Until now, the ensemble has rented halls for concerts and rehearsals. World-famous violinist Maxim Vengerov and vocalist Ildiko Komlosi performed during the inaugural concert, as did superstar Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang, who is the Shanghai Symphony Hall’s artist-in-residence.
The upcoming season will include more than 100 concerts, either performed or organized by the orchestra. Last year’s season only consisted of 30 concerts.
