November Nights With Lucinda Williams
Due out Sept. 30, the release is Williams’ first-ever double studio album. With 20 new tracks, she’ll have to lots of songs to choose from when putting together the setlist for the November excursion.
Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone opens with “Compassion,” a song that was developed from a poem written by the singer/songwriter’s father, poet Miller Williams, according to Rolling Stone. With the exception of another track crediting JJ Cale, Williams wrote the rest of the album on her own. Wallflowers frontman Jakob Dylan contributed guest vocals on “It’s Gonna Rain.” Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis also lent a hand on the LP. Additional guest musicians include guitarists Bill Frisell and Tony Joe White, Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan, and drummer Pete Thomas and bassist Davey Faragaher of Elvis Costello’s band.
