Scheduled for Nov. 19 at the Auditorium Theatre, “I’ll Take You There – Celebrating 75 Years of Mavis Staples” will also include performances by Glen Hansard, Taj Mahal, Michael McDonald, Buddy Miller, Aaron Neville, Grace Potter, and Marty Stuart.

Expect additional artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

Of course, the guest of honor will also make an appearance or two.  Mavis Staples will appear onstage for special performances throughout the evening.

Don Was is the event’s musical director and Keith Wortman is credited as creator and executive producer.  The concert will be recorded for a later release.

“There isn’t anyone Mavis doesn’t touch on a deep level,” Was said.  “Not just musicians, but humans everywhere.  She is truly one of the most powerful and inspiring American singers of all time.”

Tickets go on sale Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. Chicago time.  Check out Mavis75.com for more details.
