The Longest Concert … Ever?

An Irish pub and restaurant on Las Vegas’ famous strip will attempt to break the Guinness world record for the longest concert ever given by multiple bands, thus proving there are times when size does matter.

Rí Rá is the club planning on staging 16 days of nearly 24/7 music Oct. 1-17.  So far the marathon’s lineup includes The Black Donnellys, John Windsor, Dirk Vermin, Paul Cray, Louis Barry and many others.  Plus, Liam Reilly of Irish band Bagatelle and The Wolfe Tones’ Derek Warfield will fly in to participate, according to VegasChatter.  The website reports that a Michigan establishment – AJ’s Music Café in Ferndale, Mich. – is the current record holder, having staged a 360-hour concert in 2011.

And who has the endurance to host this insomniac’s delight?  That would be The Black Donnellys’ Dave Browne who once set a record for guitar playing in a Dublin pub.

There’s also a charity angle with Rí Rá donating 20 percent of proceeds to the South Nevada affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure.  Click here for more info.
