Lonely In A Crowded Room is due out Oct. 27 on New West Records. Along with Young’s version of “Lonely Women Make Good Lovers” and her take on the 1963 soul classic “Ruler Of My Heart,” the album includes seven original tracks.

“Lonely Women Make Good Lovers,” which was penned by Freddy Weller and Spooner Oldham, was originally recorded by Bob Luman in 1972. Oldham just happens to be one of the members of The Survivors.

“I’ve always loved Spooner’s ‘Lonely Women Make Good Lovers’, and it was a thrill to be able to work on this classic with him,” Young told PopMatters.com, which is premiering the tune. “We recorded it at Redwood Digital Studios on Broken Arrow Ranch last year and had a blast making it. If you’ve got a woman, better treat her just as good as you can.”

In addition to Oldham on keyboards, The Survivors is made up of Kelvin Holly on guitar, Rick Rosas on bass, and Phil Jones on drums/percussion.

A portion of the proceeds from Lonely In A Crowded Room will be donated to the Bridge School, the non-profit Pegi and Neil Young founded to help children like their son, Ben, with severe speech and physical impairments as well as complex communication needs.

The annual Bridge School Benefit Concert returns to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., Oct. 25-26 with a roster boasting Pegi Young and The Survivors, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Florence and the Machine, Tom Jones, Brian Wilson, Soundgarden, Norah Jones and Puss and Boots, and Band Of Horses.
