The deal with AEG Ogden, which operated the venue for the past 15 years, ends Dec. 31. Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi called the new structure “a bold view.” The PTT-WASO team-up will focus on expanding programming, find new income sources and new ways to use the public space around the hall.
The deal calls for the city of Perth to spend A$10 million ($8.7 million) in renovating the 1973 building and an additional A$4 million ($3.5 million) to relocate the WASO from its current headquarters.
