Happy 70th Birthday, Eric Clapton!
Clapton first played Royal Albert Hall nearly five decades ago. He made his debut at the venue Dec. 7, 1964 when he performed with The Yardbirds for BBC-2 TV’s “Top Beat Show.” Slowhand has since come back to the Hall many, many times, including Cream’s U.K. Farewell Concerts on Nov. 20, 1968. According to the Hall’s count, the guitarist has taken the stage at the venue on 197 occasions – 171 of which were headline performances.

His 2014 global tour has taken him to Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Poland.
Clapton returns to the Royal Albert Hall May 14-15 and May 17-18.
