Umphrey’s McGee’s ‘Couch Tour’

You don’t have to go any farther than your favorite sofa to enjoy Umphrey’s McGee’s “Couch Tour.”  Consisting of 12 shows, every performance will be live-streamed, including the band’s celebration when it plays its 2,000th gig.

Beginning tomorrow at House Of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio, UM’s “Couch Tour” includes stops in Niagara Falls, Boston, Urbana, Ill., and Kalamazoo, Mich., leading up to the band’s two nights in Madison, Wis., the last of which will commemorate gig No. 2000.

The Oct. 22 tour launch includes a free stream via Yahoo Music / Live Nation 365 shows in 365 Days project.  The last date – Nov. 8 in Madison – will also be streamed at no charge as the band observes its 2,000th show.

And the dates in between?  Those multi-camera shoots with a soundboard feel come to you via a collaboration between Umphrey’s McGee and concert streamer TourGigs.  Each show carries a $9.99 price tag that includes a 24-hour replay. Or you can buy all 10 streams for $49.99.

But the upcoming “Couch Tour” isn’t the only thing going on with Umphrey’s McGee.  The band has launched the first full-service streaming site for a single artist.  For $10 per month you get access to more than 1,000 live shows as well as the band’s complete catalog.  Check out UMLive.net for more details.
