They Want More Spoon Dates

A mere two U.S. gigs in December just wouldn’t do for Spoon. After all, Britt Daniel & the gang have a fantastic new album to support. The indie rockers have added a batch of gigs to the itinerary including a New Year’s Eve show in the indie rock band’s home state.

After the band members spent the past few years working on their own projects – including Daniel forming Divine Fits with Wolf Parade’s Dan Bocekner – Spoon hit the studio in late 2013 for the follow-up to 2010’s Transference. In August the group released They Want My Soul, which Pitchfork stamped with its “best new music” label and a score of 8.6.

Rolling Stone writes, “No failed electronic experiment or breakup drama has sullied their run. It’s just been one long stretch of slow-build greatness.” The magazine gives They Want My Soul four out of five stars and proclaims, “Spoon’s eighth album is an immediate grabber on par with the group’s best work to date.”
