HoF To Induct Lilburn
Douglas Lilburn becomes both the first electronic and first classical composer to be inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
Lilburn died 2001 aged 85. His first piece, “Forest” from 1936, evoked the country’s landscape. But dissatisfaction with instrumental music saw him turn to electronic music, setting up the southern hemisphere’s first electronic music studio in 1966.
