Circus Fans Glitched

A recent Ticketmaster computer glitch led to some fans scoring a too-good-to-be-true deal for tickets to a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performance at  in Pittsburgh.

One woman told WTAE News she was able to purchase 14 tickets to the circus for just $4.75 through the site, but was later notified the price had been incorrect.

“Then I hear from Ticketmaster that they made a mistake in the price and if I didn’t authorize them to charge the full price on my credit card that the tickets were going to be canceled,” she said. She opted not to purchase the tickets.

A Ticketmaster spokeswoman told the station there had been a buy-one, get-one-free deal on the site that mistakenly failed to charge some fans for the initial ticket.

“We are providing fans with two options,” she said. “If they do not want to proceed we will refund them the handling fee and their order will be canceled with no cost to the fan. If they want to attend the event, they will be charged the exact price they agreed to pay (and that was displayed on the site) at the time of the purchase.”
