Made In America Costs City

Correspondence to the city’s Budget and Finance committee obtained by LA Weekly noted $475,570 in costs for Los Angeles Police Department overtime for the festival held on downtown city streets. The city also employed fire inspectors, officers from the department of transportation and workers to clean up following the event, the paper said.
Live Nation paid the city $500,000 to hold the event downtown and reportedly paid the county an additional $600,000 for sheriff’s services and for the use of Grand Park.
Mayor Eric Garcetti had pushed for the festival and boasted on Facebook that at least 35,000 people attended each day of Made in America, injecting millions into the local economy. Some in the industry have estimated the fest lost money.
Made in America Los Angeles featured artists including Kanye West, Steve Aoki, Iggy Azalea, Cypress Hill, Weezer, John Mayer, and Rise Against, among many others, Aug. 30-31.
