The Avett Brothers Books 2015 Dates

Earlier today The Avett Brothers unveiled its first dates of 2015, telling fans, “We’re getting back on the road next February and can’t wait to see you all.” If you can’t wait to see the band you’ll want to keep reading. Tickets go on sale next week.

The Avett Brothers close out 2014 with a few gigs in the Carolinas. First up is House Of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Dec. 13. You can ring in the New Year with the guys Dec. 13 in Raleigh, N.C., at the PNC Arena.

The folk/indie rock act’s latest release is its eighth full-length album, 2013’s Magpie and the Dandelion.

In its “First Listen” review of Magpie and the Dandelion NPR examines the significance behind The Avett Brothers’ lyrics.

“Seth and Scott Avett aren’t content to merely play gorgeous roots music; to just lay some lovely harmonies over banjos and strings. Performing as The Avett Brothers – with bassist Bob Crawford, cellist Joe Kwon and others – they craft alternately stompy and swoony music that’s rooted in a desire for self-improvement,” NPR’s Stephen Thompson writes.

Thompson adds, “Magpie and the Dandelion largely eschews the raw, jittery energy that so often infuses The Avett Brothers’ early work. Instead, it’s a solemn, ballad-driven album – less mortality-minded than its predecessor, but still seeking poignancy and meaning in lives lived messily.”

In other words, for those of you looking for some meaning with your tunes, this tour is for you.
