Aldean Skips Out On Spotify

Spotify seems to be on a losing streak with news that Jason Aldean pulled his latest album off the digital music streaming service.

The album, Old Boots, New Dirt, had been available on the site when it was initially released Oct. 7, but it was yanked just a few days later.

His label, Broken Bow Records, declined to comment on the matter. Aldean may have gotten some inspiration from Taylor Swift, whose Big Machine label pulled her material off Spotify the week her album 1989 was released.

Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta said in a recent interview on Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx that Swift’s music will be available to stream only via premium paid services like Beats Music and Rhapsody. He added that he’s gotten positive feedback from other artists and managers about the move.

“There’s a big fist in the air about this,” he said. “Spotify is a really good service, they just need to be a better partner and there is a lot of support for this.”
