Black Tusk Bassist Dies

Athon suffered critical injuries Nov. 7 when his motorcycle crashed into the side of an SUV in Savannah’s downtown historic district. He was taken off life support two days later, according to a band statement that added, “doctors told us that he suffered irreparable brain damage shortly after the accident.”

Athon’s girlfriend was the passenger on the motorcycle and was hospitalized with injuries. Black Tusk was formed in Savannah in 2005 and released four albums and several EPs on independent labels.
